Composing/Arranging Experience
- Served as arranger for the Central Band of the Canadian Forces for 22 years. Duties included writing marches, overtures, mess dinner music, big band and jazz arrangements, dance band and vocal music, solo concertos for various instruments, works for string ensemble (written for all genres - rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, and classical).
- Composed original music for a massed band performance in the 2002 International Military Band festival in Quebec City.
- Composed and arranged entire show for Central Band's march routine performed across Canada in 2001.
- Arranged a special version of O Canada for the 2000 Grey Cup football game in Calgary.
- Composed music for opening ceremonies for 1993 Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill, televised nationally by the CBC.
- Wrote musical tribute show for Central Band’s showband, Maximum Blue. This show was over one hour in length.
- Wrote and co-produced a popular Christmas Album, What a Miracle, featuring Gail Gavan, selections of which have aired on CBC Radio.
- Composed original music for the Kingston Symphony Orchestra.
- Composed Suite for Two Flutes and Piano, broadcast on CBC-FM.
- Composed works published by Carl Fischer in New York and Southern Music in San Antonio, Texas.
Performing Experience
- Played trumpet in the Central Band of the Canadian Forces for 22 years, performing worldwide.
- Appeared with Gladys Knight, Del Shannon, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Petula Clark, Rosemary Clooney, Red Skelton, Cleo Laine, Frank Sinatra Jr., Michelle Wright, Luba, Dave Broadfoot, Rob McConnell, Valdi, Canadian Brass, Shrine Circus Orchestra, Holly Larocque and the Mark Ferguson Orchestra, Ice Capades, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
- Performed in such shows as Evita, A Chorus Line, Bye Bye Birdie, and Applause Applause.
- Performed in Ottawa, Montreal, and Edmonton Jazz Festivals, and Ottawa BluesFest.
- Currently playing in several local jazz, blues, and rhythm & blues bands.
- Awarded national individual championship prizes in 1971 and 1973 Canadian Drum Corps competitions.
Teaching Experience
- Taught trumpet privately for 22 years.
- Instructed at several Ottawa Valley brass clinics over the past five years.
- Directed trumpet clinic for Ottawa-Carleton All Star Band in 2000.
